A Little About Our Programs

TODDLER PROGRAM

The Toddler Program serves children between the ages of 2 and 3+. Prior potty training is not required for admittance. The classroom is both child-centered and child-sized. It is designed to take advantage of the toddler’s natural drive to “do it myself”. It allows the child to explore their world in a safe, nurturing, and loving environment.

Toddlers are just discovering that they are a separate person from their parent(s). The role of the teacher is to assist the child as they fulfill the basic tasks of developing trust, independence, and self-control. They are there to observe, guide, listen, and foster the natural growth of the child’s personality.

Activities are designed to enhance the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of each individual child.

Activities in the toddler classroom focus on the following:

  • Oral language development

  • Vocabulary building

  • Fine & gross motor skills

  • Sensory training

  • Care of self

  • Beginning number concepts

  • Social & emotional growth

PRIMARY PROGRAM

The Primary Classrooms serve children age three through the kindergarten year. The five-day-a-week program provides the consistency essential to a child’s overall development. The guidelines, schedule and expectations remain constant, allowing a child’s level of comfort, confidence, and enthusiasm to grow daily.

The program is carefully crafted to meet each child’s individual needs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Children progress at their own pace in a non-competitive environment. They are challenged daily by lessons and materials designed to meet their needs. They develop standards of conduct, courtesy, cooperation, self-control and respect for the rights and opinions of others while developing their own individual abilities, talents and interests.

Classrooms are large, open spaces, framed by open shelves that display a wide variety of carefully sequenced, hands-on learning activities that encourage thought, exploration and creativity. Classes are mixed-age, family like environments where the 3 year old learns from observing older students and the 5 year olds benefit from the chance to be leaders and mentors to their younger peers.

Activities in the primary classroom cover the following:

  • Language and literacy

  • Handwriting skills

  • Mathematics

  • Geography

  • Natural sciences

  • Sensory training

  • The arts (music, drama, art)

  • Knowledge & understanding of our world

  • Creative development

  • Personal & social development

  • Self motivation & personal responsibility

  • Physical development

PRE K/ KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

Our Kindergarten Program is a more advanced program compared to our primary programs. We prepare your child fully both academically and emotionally, for an excellent transition to elementary school.

  • Kindergarten is not the start of schooling. By five, most Montessori children will begin to read, and many will be introduced to multiplication and division. It is the time when many of the earlier lessons come together and become permanent part of the young child’s understanding.

  • Here in the Kindergarten Program, your child has many opportunities to teach the younger children lessons that he learned when he was their age. Research proves that this experience has powerful benefits for mentor and mentored.

  • Montessori is consciously designed to recognize and address different learning styles, helping students learn to study most effectively. Montessori children are studying cultural geography and beginning to grow into global citizens.

  • Our goal is to develop students who really understand their schoolwork. Learning is not focused on tote drill and memorization. Students learn through hands-on experience, investigation, and research. They become actively engaged in their studies, rather than passively waiting to be spoon-fed. Making mistakes is not what Montessori children afraid of because they have learned how to self-correct; they see mistakes as natural steps in the learning process.

Hear it from our parents!

Amazing! So grateful we found this wonderful school for our daughter. She has learned so much and the sense of community at this school is unmatched! The staff and teachers have been wonderful and I am very appreciative of the excellent communication found here. We plan to be a part of this wonderful school for years to come.

Parent

We love this school!! The teachers and staff at this school have done such a great job helping our kids discover their talents and strengths, all while motivating them to learn and grow in areas that they’re not as great or interested. Needless to say, our kids love this school, their teachers, and their friends at this school.
